Health Sciences Diversity

Faculty & Trainees

The Office of Health Sciences Diversity works with faculty members and administrators to advance faculty diversity as well as to enhance faculty development programs and policies. We seek to create a culture where faculty members can succeed and be a thriving force in the fabric of the institution.

Support Services at PItt

Several offices at the University of Pittsburgh provide support services for Pitt faculty and trainees.

Cultural Competence

Cultural competence is the mechanism educators and practitioners use to move toward closing gaps in health care. Our discipline-specific list of resources references assessment tools, journal articles, learning modules, webcasts and online reports.

National Associations & Organizations

Many health and health-related organizations and associations are committed to ensuring that health education and services are sensitive to the needs of diverse populations. These organizations provide professional development, community health education, advocacy, and research.

University of Pittsburgh Year of Healthy U

This year Pitt is studying, recognizing, and appreciating practices that promote good health, showing how a cross disciplinary understanding of health can lead to better lives. The Year of Healthy U will advance our understanding of health in all its forms and renew our commitment to fostering a healthy community.
