Director, Social Justice, Racial Equity and Faculty Engagement
Noble A-W Maseru is Professor of Public Health Practice and Director, Social Justice, Racial Equity and Faculty Engagement in the Health Sciences.
He is the inaugural 2022 recipient of the Pennsylvania Department of Health Office of Health Equity’s Health Equity Champion award, 2023 Recipient of Morehouse School of Medicine’s Trail Blazer award, and a founding member of both the Pittsburgh Black Equity Coalition and the Walter Rodney Foundation. He currently serves on the City of Pittsburgh’s Food Justice Commission.
Dr. Maseru’s career spans over 45 years in human services, academia, and public health. He has acted as Founding Director of Morehouse School of Medicine’s Master of Public Health program, Director and Health Officer for the City of Detroit, and Health Commissioner of the City of Cincinnati.
His primary research interests include municipal socioeconomic development relating to social determinants of health; healthcare access for medically underserved populations; and the public sector’s role in achieving health equity.
